Annual General Meeting

Is it for me?

Yes! This is a great opportunity to have an evening out with colleagues from across the Branch, to eat, drink, dance and even win a cash prize.  It is also your chance to meet your Union reps, review the past year, and have a direct say in what the Union does for you over the coming year.

How can I change things?
By submitting what is called a ‘motion’ to be debated and voted upon on the night. This is simply a direction or instruction for the Union to pursue a particular aim or policy.

If you have any ideas on what the Union should – or shouldn’t! – be doing, this is the way to get things changed.

Your Union Representatives
The AGM is also the time when we elect the Branch Executive Committee, including the Branch Officers.

You are entitled to nominate your colleagues for posts on the Committee, but you must get their approval, and have a second person to support them.

If there are more nominations than posts, there will be an election. Additionally, you can nominate individuals for National Union positions.

Anything Else?
We try and ensure all obstacles to attending the AGM can be overcome, e.g. reasonable travel costs to get there will be reimbursed, and we can arrange free transport from Dial House, Brundrett Place, Parkway, O2 Bury, O2 Preston Brook and Lancaster if needed - Please contact the Branch office on 0161 865 2820 We will also arrange return transport subject to demand .

Any member attending the AGM who incurs additional childcare costs will be repaid by the branch on submission of a receipt. If there is anything else we can do to make it easier for you to attend, please let us know.

This year’s Branch Annual Report and the minutes from the AGM will be available on this webpage shortly.

Paper copies can be ordered from the office and will be available on the night. Please give us a ring if you have any queries at all, and we look forward to seeing you at our next AGM.
