MANCHESTER CLERICAL BRANCH

DISABILITY CHAMPION

Jo R

Hi I’m Jo Rogers, the Manchester Clerical Branch Disability Champion.

My role is to offer help & support with any disability issues you may have, whether it’s with getting to & about at work, OHS referral, your rights or with benefits & any services which will enhance your quality of life.

I was diagnosed with MS in March 2006 & know from first hand the emotional & physical impact disability can have. I have been through the OHS referral (at my request) & found the experience to be very positive & beneficial for me.

I want to pass on my knowledge (I’m still on a learning curve!) & all the useful stuff I’ve found out on the way. The good news is there is plenty of help & assistance out there, so please, click on the links on this webpage for more information & if you feel I need to add anything to the website which may be missing contact me via e-mail for my attention to: manchesterclerical@cwumc.org

I am here to help you to help yourself so please get in touch.

Information Prescriptions (IP) ... From 2008, IP’s will be given to everyone with a long term condition or a social care need, in consultation with a health/social care professional. IP’s will guide people to relevant and reliable sources of information to allow them to feel more in control and better able to manage their condition and maintain their independence.

Local Involvement Networks (LINks) ... The Government wants the 150 Local Authorities in England with social care responsibilities to establish LINks to strengthen local involvement across health and social care. LINks will be independent networks of local people and organisations with an interest in health and social care, ensuring that people have a voice, can influence decision-makers and have a real say in improving services locally.
