MANCHESTER CLERICAL BRANCH

Welcome to the Branch’s Equality & Diversity pages

You will find information and advice here on the main equality strands of:

· Disability & Special Needs

· Lesbian, Gay, BiSexual & Transgender

· Race & religion

· Retired

· Women

· Youth

The Union aims to ensure everyone is treated fairly at work and has equality of opportunity no matter what, and is opposed to all forms of discrimination, as outlined in its rulebook under Rule 2.1.4 -

“To actively oppose all forms of discrimination based on race, creed, religion, age, political affiliation, disability, marital status, sex or sexual or gender orientation in industry, the Union and society in general. To this end the CWU shall actively oppose any organisation, political or otherwise, whose aims are racist or fascist;”

The CWU has a structure of Advisory Committees reporting into the national Equality Department to assist with formulating policy on the various issues.

The Branch has an Equality Officer whose role is to co-ordinate equality issues, ensure the Branch Officers are up to date with equality law, promote the Union’s equality policies and be a first port of call for advice within the Branch.

If members require any further information on any of these matters, please do not hesitate to ring the Branch or speak to your site Officers.
