MANCHESTER CLERICAL BRANCH

RETIRED MEMBERS

NPC Parliament 2010 Report

Graham Wilson

Hello, my name is Graham Wilson and I am the Secretary for the Retired Members Section of the Branch. As well as trying to keep members informed of issues specific to older people I represent the Branch at the North West  Retired Members’ Regional Council which meets 4 times a year. The Council campaigns on issues that most affect pensioners. Prime amongst these are a substantial increase in the Basic State Pension, health care and the National Health Service, community and social care, disability issues, free nationwide travel on all forms of public transport and Post Office closures.

I should love to hear from you about any issues or concerns affecting pensioners. Please send an Email for my attention to:manchesterclerical@cwumc.org I shall do my best to help and advise.

The North West is represented nationally by two members on the Retired Members Advisory Committee and is affiliated to the National Pensioners Convention
www.npcuk.org where Stan Skinkiss represents the CWU. Stan also sits on the TUC Pensioners’ Committee. So you can see the North West is well placed to get our collective voice heard.

Early in the New Year we shall publish the first edition of Grey Matters which we hope will become your twice yearly newsletter specially for North West members.

The council also organises a retired members forum for all North West CWU Retired Members, this normally takes place in October or November.
