Implementation of the Agency Workers Directive – Early Day Motion 2099

You may have recently read that the Government has announced its intention to delay Implementation of the Agency Workers Directive until October or December 2011, which is the very latest commencement date for implementation on EU law.

This comes as a real blow to Agency workers as they will now effectively have to wait another two years before equal treatment becomes law. 

Andrew Miller, MP, has put down an Early Day Motion EDM 2099 calling on the Minister to commence the measures before the end of Parliament, and so far 93 MPs have signed this EDM.

UPDATE

We are pleased to report that 143 MP’s have now signed Andrew Millers EDM 2099 calling on the Minister to commence the measures (relating to the implementation of the Agency Workers Directive) before the end of Parliament.

This is extremely encouraging and many thanks to those branches that have contacted their MP’s asking them to sign.
